| wow it has been over a year since i updated this thing. in my last entry, i was moving into my "new" apartment and about to start grad school. and here i am over 1 year later, now in my second year of grad school... still alive (hallelujah)... and no time to blog anymore! how sad. does anyone still read this?? | | |
| i am moving on friday. people kept asking me if i needed any help and i told everyone the same thing: "no, i think i can do everything in one car load." well i was wrong. i mean, i won't need any help, but my stuff definitely won't fit in one car. since i have friends who already live in the building (actually down the hall from) where i will be living, over the past 2 weeks i've been taking a few boxes at a time to leave in their rooms. that way when i move on friday there will be less stuff to fit in my car. aren't i smart? my next concern is whether all my stuff is going to fit in my new place. it's about the same size as my room here, so i guess in theory it should.. it's just that when you pack it all up in boxes it seems like a lot more stuff than it really is (that's my hope, anyway). classes start in 1 week. that is crazy. my first week of grad school. i kept thinking that i was going to have an easy schedule, but i was describing it to someone today (in our department) and they were like "wow that sounds really hard", so maybe once again i have underestimated something. now that i think about it, it actually does sound like a lot. and on top of that, i volunteered to be a (paid) subject in a research study that will take several weeks.. like, 8 or 10 weeks. it's 2 hours per day! i must be on crack. but in my defense, my level of productivity is positively correlated to my level of busyness. it's when i have lots of free time that i don't get done even the few things i have on my plate. in other news, i'm looking for a one way ticket to taipei. seriously! more details to come... | | |
| gosh has it been hot recently. i started wearing shorts to work because after work i usually go to campus and i would die of heat stroke if i wore jeans. i hope i don't get reprimanded! it's really cold in my room, which is nice, but in about a month i will be living someplace hotter. no, not florida - an apartment! the only thing nice about living in the basement is that it's cool in the summer. but i would trade it anyday for a life without centipedes and for the sun waking me up in the morning and for being able to know the weather outside without actually going outside. i haven't had any pop for the last month. it hasn't really been that hard. i started to think that it was causing some of my stomach problems, so i cut it out completely. it feels nice to drink water sometimes! | | |
| sometimes during the day i have to walk to through the osu hospital. especially because of all the construction going on, the quickest past between some of my destinations is walking through the hospital. it was during one of these shortcuts that i was thinking about this question - maybe some of my nursing/med student friends can answer this for me. Q: why don't doctors and nurses and other hospital workers get sick all the time? i mean, sick people are all congregating in one place. i would think hospitals would be like veritable death traps. they probably wash their hands all the time, but is that really enough to stave off diseases? thanks! - jeff | | |
| some people wonder how i got so good at jeopardy.. it's cause i read crap like this.. erdos number bacon number and even this erdos-bacon number did you know that the actress who played winnie cooper in 'the wonder years' has an erdos-bacon number of 6?? craziness... | | |
